Fairfield High School Band
"The Grand Band From Eagleland"
Marching Season: July - November
In the Fall season, the main focus of the high school band is marching, both for Friday night football games but also for competitions like UIL marching contest, NAMMB, and other marching festivals/contests. There is one main focus in marching band: participation. The band functions as a cohesive team and all members must be at every practice and give 100%. See the calendar/events page for performance dates and locations!
Christmas Season: November - December
The band shifts focus from moving and playing to just playing. The difficulty of the music increases though so greater concentration and attention to detail must be given in class. There is relatively little time to prepare for the Christmas concert which is all festive holdiay music. See the calendar/events page for details on the Christmas concert.
Concert Season: December - March/April
The main focus of this season is the UIL concert/sightreading contest. This is an intense contest that requires near perfection in playing and much concentration and a high level of playing is required to be successful. See the calendar/events page for performance dates and locations!
Spring Concert Season: March/April - May
This is a fun time of the year when music can be played that is not dictated by contests. It is also a time of the year to focus on training younger members of the band to take the place of the seniors who are soon to leave. See the calendar/events page for performance dates and locations!
End of Year / Summer June - July
HS Graduation is a great time for younger members of the band to take the place of the seniors. There are also parades during the summer that require as many students who are not out of the area to attend. See the calendar/events page for performance dates and locations!
